In what could be considered as another gesture of reconciliation and fellowship, the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), offered its assistance for the conduct of funeral arrangements of a newly-recruited Tamil woman soldier’s brother who recently died following a terminal disease while under treatment at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
Udayarkattu-south resident, Master Melsiya Susunandar, the younger brother of Private Neranjani Deshajani after a prolonged illness, passed away in Jaffna and his remains were brought to his residence for final rites and arrangements on Friday (8), prompting the woman soldier, to immediately attend to subsequent requirements.
On hearing the bereavement, Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, senior officers, Tamil woman soldiers, together with fellow-woman soldiers, called at their residence and made a cash donation to the woman soldier’s family at their moment of grief. The woman soldier thanked the Army for its assistance and concern on the bereavement.
