Expert on Libraries & Book Conservation Extends More Support to the Army

Mr. Kalana Chandimal Weerathunga Wakista, an experienced expert in the field of library training and conservation of books, arrived at the Army HQ this morning (16) and presented 18 sets of Buddhist philosophical books (508 books) for the benefit of the proposed Library project of the Army Headquarters.

Those books were handed over to Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army at the Commander’s office.

Since the year 2009, the donor, Mr. Kalana Chandimal Weerathunga Wakista has gifted books on diverse topics to over 100 Army libraries across the country and has been an admirer of Army roles and tasks for the development of the country.

He is also equally supportive of the establishment of libraries at Sri Lanka Military Academy at Diyatalawa, Eco Library at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment Library and the Special Forces Training School Library, Maduruoya.

During the cordial interaction, Commander of the Army and Mr. Kalana Chandimal Weerathunga Wakista exchanged views on the field of libraries and conservation of books.

Towards the end of the cordial meeting, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage symbolized the goodwill of the Sri Lanka Army by awarding a memento to Mr Kalana Chandimal Weerathunga Wakista.

Director of Training, Brigadier DKSK Dolage USP psc also attended the occasion.
