Engineer Troops on Commander's Direction Begin School Project as Advised by HE the President

On a Presidential directive, Engineer troops and SFHQ-East troops in less than a day on the instructions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army undertook the complete renovation of the playground and construction of the new library building facility at Hingurakgoda Rajarata College in Hingurakgoda on Sunday (17).

His Excellency, the President during his ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandarak’ programme at Medirigiriya on Saturday (16) entrusted the above task to the Sri Lanka Army in response to a request made by students, parents and teachers since it remains a need for the school for a long time. Keeping full faith in the competence of the Army, HE the President instructed the Officers present there to undertake the task.

Accordingly, on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara and Plant Engineer Brigade Commander Brigadier Mahinda Jayawardena directed his troops to commence work on the following day (17) itself by utilizing skilled manpower and technical expertise of 7 Field Engineer Regiment troops and plant machinery.
