The joint financial support and local resources provided by the Directorate of Veteran Affairs along with the 1 Field Engineers Regiment gifted one more new house to a deserving retired Lance Corporal who has been undergoing difficulties with his wife and three daughters. The project was launched to be in parallel with the Commander's directive to build new homes as many as possible for war veterans/retired ones/injured ones and families of fallen War Heroes.
The warming ceremony of the new house at Dambagalla, Moneragala was graced by the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General H.R.K.P Peiris as the chief guest on Friday (22).
The project was launched under the House Construction Project (Phase V) of the Regiment and construction of this house commenced on 26 February 2020 took around 8 months for completion due to COVID 19 impact. 1 field Engineer Regiment troops dedicatedly worked for it on the directions of the Commanding Officer 1 Field Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel R.T Ganegoda. The Engineers Regiment Centre, Commandant, Brigadier M Mayadunna closely supervised the project.
