General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, en route from Sri Dalada Maligawa on Thursday (15) stopped over at Nelligala International Buddhist Centre at Nelligala, Muruthalawa and spent a few minutes.
In the company of Ven Waturakumbure Dhammaratana Thero, Chief Incumbent at Nelligala International Buddhist Center, General Shavendra Silva and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson afterwards made offerings to the relic casket, shrine, pagoda and the artistic replica of God Sumana Saman in the compound.
After a while, the incumbent monk showed development work taking place in the premises and discussed a few related matters. Several devotees in the compound on seeing the visiting Commander of the Army inside the premises greeted him as he went past by.
