Eleven Sports Clubs in and around Jaffna took part in a volleyball tournament that took place at Ketpeli public grounds and Ushan Ramanadan school playground last weekend.
The tournament, organized by 52 Division in coordination with the 522 Brigade Headquarters on the directions of the Jaffna Commander, was designed to promote better relations between the Security Forces and the general public in the area.
In the final event, Manduvil Iron Curtain Sports Club competed against Thawasikulam Manoliver Sports Club amidst a large gathering of civilians at Ushan Ramanadan school playground.
After a close fight, Manduvil Iron Curtain Sports Club secured the victory and carried away the Championship Trophy. Kodikamam Hatton National Bank, Palai-based ‘Maga’ company and Kaduwela Metroof Company sponsored gifts and certificates, delivered to the winners and participants.
The winners in the finals received sports accessories, valued at Rs 32,650/= from the 52 Division General Officer Commanding, Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe at the conclusion of the final tournament.
