The Phase 11 of the ‘Ekwa Surakimu Nagenahira’ (Let’s Preserve East Together), and ‘Ekwa Surakimu Polonnaruwa’ (Let’s Preserve Polonnaruwa Together) projects of the Security Force HQ-East kicked off on Monday (14) in all eastern districts, except Ampara due to escalation of COVID-19 cases.
The Army-initiated project, a conceptual notion, suggested by Major General Chinthaka Gamage, Commander, Security Force - East conducts public awareness programmes, sticker pasting campaigns, conduct of seminars and workshops, together with community participation in specific areas with the support of All Ranks in 22 & 23 Divisions, Brigades and Units on the importance of environmental cleanliness, public consciousness and our duty to keep public places clean and conserve the environment.
The SFHQ-East entrusted the responsibility and implementation of the programme through the Army leadership harnessing the participation of all communities, government, private sector and civil organizations. As part of the drive, ‘Shramadana’ campaigns to clean the main roads of the Eastern Province and Polonnaruwa areas were conducted during daytime on Monday (14), adhering to health guidelines.
This broad-based awareness project for environment conservation in the east, launched by the Security Force HQ - East got underway on 4th October 2020 as the Phase 1 after school students in the East were educated at first on the project on 29 September 2020.The variety campaign after distributing a sticker, printed to the same effect among bus passengers and people at public places, is implemented covering major towns in the region and encourages the public to keep off from littering and heaping garbage on roadsides, etc.
Religious dignitaries of major faiths, the Commander, Security Forces - East, General Officers Commanding of 22, 23 and 24 Divisions, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (East), Senior Officers, Government Officials, Heads of Civil Organizations, Principals of Schools, Parents, School Children and members of the public actively contribute to the project on different days at relevant phases.Buy Kicks | Autres
