East-based Troops Indulge in Community Development Roles

All possible assistance by way of multifaceted community projects, intent on  bettering living conditions of the people in the East is being facilitated by the troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters-East on the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E).

Troops of 11 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment (SLA) organized 2 ‘Shramadana’ campaigns to clear the surroundings in the Shailabimbaramaya Temple, Dimbulagala and the Sri Suduhath pre School, Dimbulagala on Friday (18) and 2 Gajaba Regiment  troops on Saturday (19).conducted another ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clear the surroundings of the Mohomad Jumma Mosque, prior to the advent of ‘Ramazan’ ceremony.

In the meantime, troops of 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 9 Gemunu Watch (GW) held seminars for Grade 5 students, sitting the scholarship examination with the assistance of civil lecturers from GTMS College, Bathiyagama school and Mankerni school during the previous weekend.

More than 720 students participated in the seminars.

Similarly, 222 Brigade organized a pilgrimage for 40 Jayanthipura elders to visit Somawathiya and Seruwila providing meals and transportation.

On the same day, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops donated a water tank for the benefit of students and children at Sampaha School, Trincomalee.

8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops meanwhile carried out a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clear the surroundings at  Perumaweli School, Thoppigala on Sunday (20).

In the meantime, troops serving 22 and 23 Divisions conducted several other  community service projects in the past week.
