Under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces- Wanni, a workshop, planned by the Directorate of Operations to educate troops on Geographic Information System (GIS), and its related applications got underway during 1-2 April at the SFHQ-Wanni premises.
The workshop discussed programmes, based on mapping and data storing systems as practical aspects. Brigadier (Record & Planning) Research, Analysis, Projection and Development Branch, Brigadier Sudath Udayasena conducted the workshop.
Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ, together with others in under command formations in SFHQ Kilinochchi, Jaffna and Mullaittivu participated in the workshop.
The programme enabled Officers and Solders to enhance the practical knowledge on GIS application in under command formations and Battalions. The knowledge gathered here will be benefitted for real time ground information up grade on the military maps.
