DSCSC Graduation Held on Grand Scale at Temple Trees


The sixth graduation ceremony of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda got underway Thursday (20) evening at Temple Trees, headed by Minister of External Affairs, Prof  G.L Peiris as the Chief Guest.

At the invitation of the DSCSC, President’s Secretary, Mr Lalith Weerathunga, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal H.D Abeywickrama, diplomats, Vice Chancellors, academics, scholars and a large gathering of distinguished invitees graced the convocation.  

102 graduands comprised of 56 officers from Sri Lanka Army, 19 officers from Sri Lanka Navy, 17 officers from Sri Lanka Air Force and 11 foreign officers from nine countries received their graduation from Prof Peiris during the convocation.  Spouses of the graduates and well-wishers were also present on the occasion. 

Those officer students who emerged 1st In Order of Merit of their respective wings were awarded “The Golden Owl Award”.

Major K U P G T U B Jayaratne, Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the Sri Lanka Army won the Golden Owl Award in the course.

Major M A K R K Abeywickramasinghe, Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) of the Sri Lanka Army received the “Commandant’s Golden Pen Award” for his research paper.
