Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SF HQ - J) distributed 72 water tanks worth of Rs 850,000/= and school books to the value of Rs 120,000/= among the drought-affected low-income group families and their children, based at Kaddaikadu, donated by “Derana” media organization at the request of Commander of the SFHQ -J during a brief function held on Tuesday (26) at Thalaiady Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed (RCTM) school.
52 water tanks of 1000 litre capacity, 10 water tanks of 500 litre capacity and 10 water tanks of 250 litre capacity, were distributed among the representatives from different villages, suffering from scarcity of water.
In the meantime, school books were also distributed among their children at the same occasion.
General Officer Commanding 52 Division Major General Priyantha Jayasundara, Chief Executive Officer “Derana” Mr. Madawa Madawala, General Officer Commanding 55 Division Brigadier S.K. Thirunaukarisu, Commander 553 Brigade Colonel Vijith Subhasinghe , Senoir Officer and civilians in the area were present at the event.
