Divisional HQs in SFHQ-J Spearhead Many Anniversary Projects

The troops of 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna carried out a series of Civil-Military Cooperation projects in the Jaffna peninsula in connection with the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the Army during 9-10 October 2021.

Accordingly, 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops under the 551 Brigade gave away valuable stationery packs and school uniform materials to all the children and garments for adults plus a delicious lunch to the Sri Paramananda Children’s and Elders’ Home in Nelliady.

The whole sponsorship for the project was borne by Major General Mohan Jayawardena, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division through his own funds.

Meanwhile, troops of the 551 Brigade and 16 Sri Lanka Light Infantry gave a new look to the Manthikai hospital after conducting a thorough cleaning project in a ‘Shramadana.’ During the programme, troops removed debris and colour washed most affected areas in the hospital buildings, mortuary and constructed a pathway to facilitate the movement of patients and vehicles. After the cleaning programme, a delicious lunch was also provided to all the patients and minor staff in the hospital.

All these anniversary projects were graced by the General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, Major General M.K Jayawardena together with the Brigade Commander, 551 Brigade, Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasingha.

In the meantime, Selvasanidhi Murugan Kovil and Mirusuvil Sri Amman Kovil compounds in the Jaffna area were cleaned by 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 52 Division in order to rid garbage and pollutants from those crowded places. The General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe gave his blessings for the projects.

All these events were planned and launched under the overall guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku.
