Devotees Reaching Okanda Devalaya Premises Provided with Hot Meals

Nearly about 1500 devotees from the North and East trekking through Kumana and Yala National Parks, bound for Kataragama in order to participate in the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devala festival were treated to hot meals as they reached Okanda Devalaya premises, the area served by troops of the 242 Brigade and 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) of the 24 Division of the Security Force HQ- East during 25-27 June.

Those devotees were provided delicious dinner and ice cream, and necessary arrangements were put in place by the troops of the 23 SLSR under the direction of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division Major General Saliya Amunugama and the Commander 242 Brigade, Brigadier Sampath Fernando.

Mr Gemunu Perera, the owner of the 'Bayvista' Hotel in Arugambay and Mr. Kamal Harischandra, an entrepreneur in Piliyandala extended their generosity for successful conduct of the treat and provision of other facilities.
