The Defence Adviser of the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, Captain Yuuki Yokohari, this morning (19) made his first courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at the Army Headquarters.
The cordial interactive meeting exchanged courtesies and discussed general matters of concern. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and the Defence Adviser, Captain Yuuki Yokohari recalled long-lasting bonds of goodwill, cooperation and understanding that exist between the armed forces of both countries during the cordial meeting.
They also discussed possibilities of further enhancing training programmes for Sri Lankan Army personnel as well as the participation of the armed forces of both countries in different exchange and training modules.
Towards the end of the cordial meeting, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage symbolized the goodwill of the Sri Lanka Army by awarding a memento to the Defence Adviser of the Embassy of Japan. The gesture was reciprocated.
Mrs Kaori Imai, Second Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka and Brigadier Buddika Perera, Assistant Military Secretary were also associated with the day’s meeting.
