The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) and Chairman, Board of Management (BoM) of 'Ranaviru Apparels' Major General Wasantha Madola made his first formal visit to the Ranaviru Apparels factories at Alawwa and Yakkala for an inspection on Thursday (11).
The day's itinerary began with the visit to the Alawwa Factory. He was warmly received by Brigadier Azad Izadeen, the Commandant – RVAPL, together with Colonel Amila Wasage, Deputy Commandant and Factory Manager Lieutenant Colonel Nandana Weerasekara in the company of several other senior Officers. The drive-past on arrival saluted the visiting DCOS in accordance with military traditions.
He was briefed on the operations at the factory, followed by a field visit into factory operations. Planting a tree sapling at the camp premises, he left a symbol of memory before he addressed the troops at Alawwa Factory.
Thereafter he moved to the factory at Yakkala. On arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Commandant together with Deputy Commandant and Factory Manager at the main entrance to the camp at Yakkala. Here too, a drive-past saluted him in accordance with military traditions.
The visiting DCOS received a briefing on the operational aspect of the factory before he made a field visit. He also left memories planting a tree sapling at the camp premises as a symbol of memory before he was invited to address the troops at Yakkala Factory too. He told them that all possible assistance to upgrade the factory to achieve the target and produce high quality uniforms for the SL Army would be made in future.
He also extended his sincere gratitude to commandant and all ranks including differently able War Heroes of the RVAPL for paving way for the factory's success. Towards the end of the day’s proceedings, the DCOS placed his signature in the Visitors’ book before his departure.
