Dansela &;amp; Vesak Lantern Display Treat Pandiyankulam Villagers


Taking the message of Vesak that highlights concept of compassion, loving kindness and equanimity, troops attached to 612 Brigade serving under the 61 Division Headquarters, made arrangements to mark the event with different programmes.

On the directions given by Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, Colonel K.N.S Kotuwegoda, Commander, 612 Brigade with the support of his troops organized an exhibition of Vesak  lanterns and a Dansela at Pandiyankulam village area on Saturday (5).

The arrangement saw hundreds of Pandiyankulam villagers flocked to the centre of the village to enjoy the sight of Vesak lanterns, erected in the area after absence of more than 30 years and taste the free meals provided by the organizers. 

Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, Colonel K.N.S Kotuwegoda, together with the 33 Sri Lanka National Guard Commanding Officer and several other Army officers.

In the meantime, the same 612 Brigade recently held a blood donation campaign at its Naddankandal Brigade Headquarters in response to a request, made by the blood bank at Anuradhapura General Hospital.
