The formal UN medal awarding ceremony in appreciation of the service, rendered by the Sri Lanka peacekeepers in the 8th Contingent of SRIMED Level 2 Hospital in South Sudan was held on a grand scale recently at the UNMISS-Bor compound.
Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian, the Force Commander of UNMISS graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The Sector East Commander Brigadier General Dhruba Prakash Shah, the Head of Field Office Mrs Geetha Pious and many other civil and military dignitaries were present at the event.
Lieutenant Colonel N.M Niflar, Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka's 8th Contingent of SRIMED Level 2 Hospital delivered the welcome speech.
In addition to the day’s event, a drill display and a cultural pageant entertained the gathering symbolizing discipline, regimentation, integrity, learning and the leadership skills of the Sri Lanka Army during the event.
