Giving further assistance and economic helping hand to the newly resettled 167 families in Keppapilaw in the Mullaitivu district, Major General Boniface Perera in his capacity as the Competent Authority for the displaced in North visited the area on Wednesday (19), together with several state administrators including District Secretary for Mullaitivu and several senior officers.
Major General Boniface Perera reviewed the progress of their housing project and economic conditions after their resettlement in the new area. On the same occasion the Competent Authority and state officials distributed gift parcels containing dry rations and jak saplings for planting in their compounds.
Labour offered by Army troops is in the process of constructing 50 new houses covering about 117 families while houses for remaining families are to be completed by mid of next year.
The visitors interacted with them closely and inquired into their requirements and assured them of every possible assistance to the re-settlers at the earliest.
