One of Sri Lanka’s leading vehicle dealers, ‘Diesel & Motor Engineering Company Ltd’, highly impressed with the establishment of the state-of-the-art wellness resort, ‘Abimansala’ at Anuradhapura for rehabilitation and recreation of totally dependent War Heroes, displayed its appreciative recognition of the project by donating Rs 20 million in cash towards the construction of the second resort (Abimansala-2) at Wilpitawatta, Kamburupitiya in the south.
Mr Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman, Diesel & Motor Engineering Company Ltd who also donated a new mini ‘Dimo Batta’ vehicle for the use of diverse ongoing Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) projects, handed over both the cheque and the vehicle to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Thursday (16) morning during a brief meeting at the Commander’s secretariat.
The donor, Mr Pandithage, accompanied by his company’s General Manager Mr Vijitha Bandara told the Commander, the driving force behind the realization of the ‘Abimansala’ construction that he was touched and very much fascinated by the noble objective, conduct of affairs and management and the picturesque surroundings in the Anuradhapura resort complex where some 50 plus totally disable War Heroes of the North Central Province are carefully nurtured for the rest of their lives.
Thursday’s donation of the cheque to the value of Rs 20 million to the Commander for construction of the ‘Abimansala-2’ for dependent War Heroes in the southern province, provides a heartening stimulus to its speedy completion at a time its preliminary work is in full progress at Wilpitawatta.
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, together with Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB on the same occasion accepted the delivery of the ‘Dimo Batta’ vehicle for various services of the SVAB. Hand-over of the symbolic key to the vehicle to the Commander after the brief meeting at the Commander’s secretariat marked the formal donation.
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya gratefully acknowledging and appreciating the company’s thoughtfulness and their concern for disable War Heroes who sacrificed their legs and limbs for the sake of the country, assured that the Army, particularly with this type of donations would be very well able to complete intended projects of this nature earlier than expected.
