Commander Impressed With Remarkable Progress of Disable War Heroes at 'Abimansala'

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, now in Anuradhapura to fine tune the military parade being prepared for the 64th Independence Day celebrations, took time off and visited the ‘Abimansala’, Wellness Resort for dependent War Heroes on Thursday (2) afternoon.

It was a miracle, yet a reality for the Commander to see the incredible physical and mental progress that has been acquired by those disable War Heroes after they moved into the state-of-the-art Wellness Resort.

An inmate with one hundred percent disability after injuries sustained in the battlefield is now able to write and read as before under normal circumstances after he underwent physical and mental therapy in less than a year, the Commander was told by authorities at ‘Abimansala’.

The visiting Commander spoke to almost all the inmates and exchanged views, particularly related to their progress in physical and mental health and wished all of them be made able to get back home after full recovery some day as ordinary citizens in society.

Totally bed-ridden War Heroes who were admitted to the resort earlier after therapy and exercises have turned to be able to sit on a wheelchair and ride, one of the inmates told the Commander.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya impressed with the result produced by the Wellness Resort told the authorities to work with more dedication and help minimize their disability as much as possible.

On arrival, the Commander was received by an inmate at the Wellness Resort offering a sheaf of betel.
