Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), laid the foundation stone for the new pavilion at the "Rendezvous Ground" within the SLAVF Headquarters following the auspicious hours on 19 August 2024.
The ceremony marked a significant step in further enhancing the ground for cricketing activities.
Commandant of the SLAVF initiated the project by cutting the first lump of soil amidst religious rituals and the chanting of Seth Pirith amidst the presence of Senior Officers, Other Ranks.
The new pavilion will feature a double-height design with a seating capacity of 200 and additional facilities to meet cricketing standards.
The construction, which integrates architectural and structural designs, will be carried out with manpower support from the 4 (V) Sri Lanka Engineers, 1 Engineer Services Regiment, and 10 (V) Engineer Services Regiment. Major General W.G.P. Sisira Kumara RSP, Deputy Commandant of the SLAVF will supervise the project.
Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Volunteer Force attended the simple ceremony.
