Troops serving Poonani area under 23 Division Headquarters, Security Forces Headquarters, East recently had its New Year festival organized with the participation of people of all three major ethnicities.
Selecting Jayanthiyaya school grounds as the venue for the event, Army troops on the instructions of Brigadier R.W.W.A.D.B. Rajaguru, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, organized traditional games and fun-making features as major attractions in the New Year event.
A large gathering of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim civilians joined together and competed in these events and received prizes and incentives from the organizers towards the end of the ceremony.
