52 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) distributed prosthetic limbs among 43 disable civilians on Wednesday (4) during a simple ceremony at the Church of South India, Chavakachcheri.
52 Division took the initiatives of coordinating this commendable project while Rotary District 3300, Malaysia and Rotary Club of Capital City, Sri Lanka jointly supported financially to manufacture those limbs, through the Colombo Friend In Need Society (CFINS).
This is the first time that 15 experts from the CIFNS came to manufacture limbs for the disables in the area at the request of the 52 Division Headquarters under the SFHQ-J.
They took measurements for artificial legs from selected beneficiaries and produced limbs at the 52 Division Headquarters premises within 3 days before distribution with the strong guidance of CFINS Officers.
The ceremony to hand over manufactured limbs to 8 females and 35 males was organized by the Headquarters 52 Division with the support of its troops.
Clergy from Catholic and Hindu denominations, Medical Officers, Divisional Secretaries and officials from donor organizations, senior officers of the 52 Division and the recipients were present at the occasion.
