CES Builds New Home for Fallen War Hero's Family at Piliyandala

Directorate of Veteran Affairs at the Army HQ and the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) jointly built one more new house for the family of a fallen Non Commissioned Officer of the CES in Piliyandala with the blessings of all in the Regiment and warmed it on Friday (19) during a simple ceremony.

The CES HQ in keeping with initiatives taken by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army towards construction of more and more new homes for family members of fallen War Heroes and injured War Heroes on a priority basis is forging ahead with the Regiment's sustained house-construction welfare project due to financial support, being received from the Directorate of Veteran Affairs on the Commander's advice. CES troops carried out the construction.

Under the project, Corp of Engineer Services (CES) troops constructed this new house for the family in Piliyandala. The new house, built at a cost of Rs 1.5 m was vested in the family on the directions of Major General Rathnasiri Ganegoda, Colonel Commandant and Commander FMA (MLT) during a brief ceremony, inclusive of plaque unveiling, milk pot boiling and other rites and rituals.

Representing the Colonel Commandant, it was opened by Colonel Kumara Wijenayake as the Chief Guest for the occasion at the invitation of the Commandant CES, Colonel Y.K Rangika of Engineers' central workshop.
