Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne, Army Spokesman cum the Director Media at the Army Headquarters on Saturday (2) at the request of the Security Force HQ-Central delivered a lecture on ‘Media-Military Relationship’ and educated Officers and Other Ranks on general matters of Media concern with special focus on its timely important impact and repercussions.
During the lecture, he largely focused on the need for sustained relations with Media in order to tap its positive aspects, its impact on the reputation of the organization, management of Media queries and approaches, its impact on the 'soldier' in uniform, pluses and minuses of Media, its exposure in visual, print and electronic Media, important aspects as a stimulant to social, political and cultural development, its brief history and the Sri Lankan context, international impact and Media's role as a PR exercise, etc.
A gathering of more than 100 troops, including Officers serving all establishments under the SFHQ-Central joined the programme that culminated with a question-answer session.
