CDS Makes His First Visit to Jaffna


Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), together with several Air Force officers on Friday (25) made his first official visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) after assumption of duties as the CDS.

The day’s itinerary began after Major General Nandana Udawatta, Commander, SFHQ- J warmly received the visiting Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke on arrival at the Palaly grounds.

In accordance with military formalities, the CDS afterwards reviewed the Guard Turnout at the entrance to the SFHQ-J premises and afterwards the Guard of Honour, accorded to him.

The visiting CDS received the salute from the SFHQ-J troops after reviewing the parade in keeping with military traditions before the rest of the programme got underway. 

After a mango sapling was planted to mark the visit, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke listened to briefings presented by Major General Nandana Udawatta, Commander, SFHQ-J, Rear Admiral K.K.V.P.H. De Silva, Commander, Northern Naval Area and Wing Commander H.M.C. Herath, Acting Commanding Officer, Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Palaly.
   
Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke signed the visitors’ book and exchanged mementoes with Major General Nandana Udawatta before leaving the SFHQ-J premises.
