Large numbers of Hindu devotees in Jaffna and Wanni joined hands together with troops to celebrate the recent Thai Pongal ceremony that gave pride of place to religious offerings and cultural performances.
521, 522 and 523 Brigades under 52 Division in Varani, Jaffna with the participation of cultural troupes from Vigneshwara Vidyalaya, Uduppiddi American Mission Girls School, Nelliadi Central College, Alwai Sinnathambi Vidyalaya and the Army commenced the day’s proceedings after religious offerings at Male Junction Pulleyar Kovil and Chavakachcheriya Shivan Kovil, earlier on the day.
Evening’s cultural show attended by 52 Division General Officer Commanding, 521, 522 and 523 Brigade Commanders, Hindu, Catholic, Islamic priests, Zonal Directors of Education, a few Pradheshiya Sabha representatives drew a huge crowd.
