Brigadier Deepal Pussella assumed duties as the 9th General Officer Commanding in the 62 Division amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 62 Division Headquarters in Vavuniya on Monday (18).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding, 62 Division was warmly welcomed by all Brigade Commanders and Division's Staff Officers and honoured in the Guard Turnout presented by troops of 9th Battalion Gajaba Regiment. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory before he placed his signature for an official document to mark his assumption of duties, amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' in the presence of senior officers. Later, he addressed all rankers of the Division and spoke out his mind followed by an all rank lunch. Staff Officers and Other Rankers were present during the address.
Brigadier Depal Pusella was the Commandant at the Army Traning School, Maduru Oya prior to this new appointment and he succeeds Major General Samantha Silva who recently assumed office as the new General Officer Commanding in the 22 Division.
