Atugoda Sumangala Students Interact With Jaffna Hindu College During Trip


With the prime objective of promoting goodwill, understanding and reconciliation between the North and the South, the Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently organized a four-day north-bound excursion for students at remote Atugoda Sri Sumangala Maha Vidyalaya in Kegalle District.

Those students from 9, 10 and 11 year classes   during their tour in Mannar, Jaffna and Kilinochchi had the rare chance of displaying their artistic skills while they were at Jaffna Hindu College, attending World Teachers’ Day (Oct 6). Mingling with fellow-students, those visiting Kegalle students sang and danced together to entertaining Sinhala and Tamil melodies as hundreds of northern students, teachers and parents watched.

The arrangement, fully sponsored by Mr. Rajitha Rupasinghe, a donor saw the students enjoying at Mannar beach, Madu shrine, Jaffna Naga Viharaya, Jaffna Kovils, Kilinochchi and Jaffna War memorials, Jaffna Hindu College, Kilinochchi Maha Deva Ashram Children’s Home, Kokavil Transmission Tower and several other places of interest.

Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN, 571 Brigade Commander, several senior officers and a gathering of invitees attended the SFHQ-KLN reception when those students finally met their chief organizer of the tour at Kilinochchi.
