Award of prizes and certificates to students, who participated in drawing, dancing and stage drama competitions in Vavuniya to coincide with the recent Thai Pongal celebrations took place at Tharanikulam Ganesh Maha Vidyalaya.
Students from 35 schools in the Vavuniya North Education Zone under 611 Brigade area, received those prizes for excellence in above-said fields during the ceremony that got underway with Brigadier A. K. P Wickremasinghe, Security Forces Headquarters in the chair as the Chief Guest on behalf the Wanni Commander at the invitation of Brigadier K. G. D. Perera, 611 Brigade Commander.
Students from Kalmadu Maha Vidyalaya, Sinnapandivirichchan Maha Vidyalaya and Puthukulam Maha Vidyalaya emerged winners in drama, dancing and drawing respectively.
Farmers International (Pvt) Ltd sponsored prizes and certificates for those children. Manager, People’s Bank, Vavuniya, Managing Director, Farmers International (Pvt) Ltd, Principals and teachers, students, senior Army officers, parents and a large group of students attended the ceremony.
