Army Woman Soccer Team Carries away ' Cargills' Championship

Sri Lanka Army women’s soccer team won the all-island Cargills trophy in the women’s club tournament, defeating Sri Lanka Navy woman soccer team in the final encounter, held at Sugathadasa Stadium on Sunday (14).

Sri Lanka Army Soccer Team beat Leo FC, Kurunegala by 4-2 before it recorded victory against Navy FC at the final round by 10-9.

Private A.M.A.S Wijerathne clinched the Best Goal Keeper award and Lance Corporal W.A.D.U.I Wanigasekara led the team to victory.

Mr Ranjith Rodrigo, President, Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) congratulated the winning team and gave away the trophy and awards for best performances in the tournament. Brigadier H.D.W Kariyawasam, President Army Football Association also joined to witness the final match.
