Army Troops in Lebanon Win 3rd Place in Tug of War

Designed to promote camaraderie and understanding among different UN peacekeepers serving the UNIFIL Headquarters in Lebanon, the annual UNIFIL Sports Festival got underway during 18 - 19 August.

Troops of the 13th Sri Lanka Army Force Protection Company in Lebanon, consisting of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers, won the 3rd place in the Tug of War tournament beating teams of 24 countries.

Brigadier General Bruno Heuli, Chief of Staff, the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL), graced the event as the Chief Guest and joined the distribution of trophies and certificates.

Meanwhile, the UNIFIL’s swimming competition, held at the UNIFIL swimming pool in Naqoura, Lebanon gave the 3rd place to Sri Lanka Army’s Corporal R.A.I Pushpakumara (40 m free style) and the 2nd place to the 13th Sri Lanka Army Force Protection Company team under the 40 m x 4 free style event.
