Troops of 62 Division under the Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) distributed drinking water among drought victim belonging to 714 families in Ethawetunuwewa, Kalyanipura, Nikawewa, Monarawewa, Ehetugaswewa, Gajabapura, Weherathenna, Kambiliwewa, Konwewa, Kohombagaswewa and Weherawewa under the kind patronage of the SJMS Association on Tuesday (12).
Army troops distributed 205 of 10 liter plastic water tanks. Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commading (GOC), 62 Division, Mrs. Lilani Jayasooriya and Mrs. Wasantha Nanayakkara and representatives of SJMS Association were present at the event.
Meanwhile, 62 Division troops distributed 200 rice packs each 10 kg among drought-hit villagers in Weherathenna resettled village with the financial assistance of Mr. Yaga Perera, President, Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association (SLADA) on Thursday (14).
Brigadier K.G.D Perera, Mr. Mahesh Gammanpila and Mr. Rishwa Farook from SLADA and a large crowd of villagers took part in the distribution.
