Army Troops-Built New Meditation Hall at Kanduboda Meditation Centre Opened

Chief of Defence staff and Commander of the Amy General Shavendra Silva, together with General Daya Ratnayake (Retd), former Commander of the Army and Chairman, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and a few other invitees joined the simple opening of the newly-constructed ‘Sudheera Kutiya’ (Meditation Hall) at Kanduboda, Bavunseth Manasika Sevana Vipassana Bhavana Centre on Sunday (21) at the invitation of Ven Diyasenpura Wimala Thero, Incumbent & Meditation Practitioner.

Erected by 15 Corps of Engineer Service troops of the Army with financial sponsorship made by philanthropists, the new mediation hall at Bavunseth Manasika Sevana Vipassana Bhavana Centre is capable of accommodating more and more meditation practitioners for its regular sessions.

The brief ‘Pinkama’ began by observing religious rites and rituals, administered by members of the Maha Sangha before General Shavendra Silva, together with Hon Minister Udaya Gammanpila, General Daya Rathnayake (Retd) cut a ribbon and opened the new hall as members of the Maha Sangha went on chanting 'Seth Pirith'. General Shavendra Silva and others afterwards left memories by planting saplings in the sacred premises before they joined a 'Sathbudu Pooja' religious veneration.

The Kanduboda Meditation Centre to-date has conducted meditation practising sessions for over 30,000 tri service and Police personnel after an initiative to this effect was launched by the Army and its Directorate of Psychological Operations a few years ago.

Hon Minister Sisira Jayakody, military officers, donors, and civilians attended the occasion.Sportswear free shipping | Nike Shoes, Clothing & Accessories
