Responding swiftly to a Presidential directive during one more ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandarak’ that took place at Giribawa on Saturday (6), Engineer troops inaugurated the preparatory work for complete renovation and construction of the playground at Giribawa Central college on Friday (12) on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after the request was made.
Troops were compelled to postpone its commencement until Friday (12) since the GCE (O/L) was in progress in this particular college.
His Excellency, the President during one more of his ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandara’ programme at Giribawa on Saturday (6) entrusted the above task to the Sri Lanka Army in response to a request made by students, parents and teachers since it has remained a long-felt need for the school. Keeping full faith in the competence of the Army, HE the President instructed the Officers present there to undertake the task and fulfill those aspirations.
Accordingly, on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara directed his troops to commence work on the following day (7) but due to GCE (O/L) examination it was postponed.
