A fire at a commercial complex in Menikhinna was swiftly contained by Army troops on 22 April 2026.
Upon receiving information about the blaze, immediate action was taken by troops of the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, in close coordination with the fire brigade and the Sri Lanka Police, to successfully contain the fire. Their swift intervention played a critical role in preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings in the busy commercial area.
The timely response significantly reduced potential damage, ensuring the safety of both civilians and property.
