Army Swimmers Earn Clean Sweep at Balapitiya

Sri Lanka Army Men’s Swimming Team in the 12th National 5 km open water swimming championship - 2022 organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) had a clean sweep this morning (13) at Balapitiya beach and claimed the championship.

More than 85 Swimmers participated in the event representing 15 sports clubs and this is the 5th consecutive year Army swimmers emerged champions.

The men’s team secured eight places within the first ten places.

Major General Nishantha Manage, Director General General Staff and Chairman Sri Lanka Army Aquatic Sports Committee encouraged all the attendees with the blessings of the Chief Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to achieve these wins.

Here follows the names of 1st three winners of the competition.

1st Place - Corporal B.D Shehan of Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical Engineers

2nd Place - Private I.M Abeyrathne of Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical Engineers

3rd Place - Lance Corporal A.M.A.S Abesinghe of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps
