More than 670 students of Medawachchiya Poonewa Maha Vidyalaya, courtesy the patronage received from Kelaniya Rotary Club, are to quench their thirst after the 211 Brigade civil affairs office under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), took initiatives to have a drinking water scheme, installed in the school precincts.
The drinking water scheme that costs nearly Rs 2 lakhs was commissioned during a simple ceremony on Sunday (24) in the presence of a gathering, comprised of Mr Chandra Fernando, Chairman, Kelaniya Rotary Club, Mr Ravi Adihetti, Secretary Kelaniya Rotary Club, Mr M Suraweera, Principal, Poonewa Maha Vidyalaya, 211 Brigade Civil Affairs Officer, teachers, students and parents.
