Students at Pandiyankulam Maha Vidyalaya, a rural school in the Manthai East Divisional Secretariat in Mulaitivu District, had the rare opportunity of visiting educationally important places in Colombo recently due to arrangements made by Brigade Commander 612 Brigade Colonel K. N. S. Kotuwegoda.
The three day educational tour organized by the Sri Lanka Army’s 612 Brigade paved the way for the students and teachers of the school to visit the Colombo Museum, Dehiwala Zoo, Colombo Harbour, Planetarium, World Trade Centre, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Galle Face Green and Vihara Maha Devi Park for the first time in their life.
During the 30 year prolonged War the people of this area were denied chances of visiting the areas in the South of Sri Lanka by ruthless LTTE terrorists.
