Army Judo Players Win Championship

The National Novices Judo Championship - 2022 was held at Trincomalee, Kackhashier indoor stadium during 18-20 March with the participation of 250 male and female competitors representing 16 sports clubs.

During this year’s, competition Sri Lanka Army Male Judo players grabbed the overall championship with 8 Gold medals out of 11, all 8 Silver medals and 18 Bronze Medals out of 22 claiming 73 marks out of a total 99 Marks.

Similarly, the Sri Lanka Army Women’s team and Gampola Girls’ High School teams were rated as co-runners up reaching the 3rd place. Army men’s team won 8 Gold, 8 Silver and 18 Bronze medals while the Army women’s team claimed 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze medals.

The awarding ceremony, held at Trincomalee on Sunday (20) was attended by parliamentarian, Kapila Nuwan Athukorala, MP for Trincomalee District, state officials, Brigadier T.M Hettiarachchi, Vice President, Army Judo Committee, Brigadier W.M.S.N Wijekoon, Secretary Army Judo and Deputy Secretary, Army Judo Committee, Captain M.H.M.H Hussain.
