The ENT unit of the Colombo Army Hospital was the recipient of a brand-new Pure Tone Audiometer (PTA) to replace the unserviceable one which is still in use.
This donation was made possible due to dedicated efforts of Captain Kavindra Dassanayaka and his friends who collected funds, to the value of Rs. 985,000/= for purchase of the inter-acoustics AD226 audiometer. The equipment consists of the audiometer with all relevant accessories, a laptop and a printer.
Brigadier (Dr) Champaka Attanayaka and resident Consultant, ENT Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Akram Drahaman received the donation on behalf of the hospital a few days ago.
Representatives from the supplying company J.M Wickamarachchi & Co. were also present at the ceremony and they assisted in setting up the device and providing training to the resident audiology technicians and how the device could be well harnessed. Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Sohan Cooray who is the resident consultant physician at the Colombo Army Hospital was also present.
