Finals of the Defence Services Hockey Championship - 2018, held at Reid Avenue Hockey Turf Colombo gave the Championship win to Army male players in Hockey and the runner-up slot to Army female players on Friday (14).
Secretary Defence Mr Kapila Waidyarathna PC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and gave away certificates and medals to the winners. Major General Dampath Fernando, Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army, Major General Shavendra Silva, Adjutant General and Chairman Army Hockey Committee and Hockey fans witnessed the finals.
Hockey players of the Sri Lanka Army defeating Sri Lanka Air Force in the finals displayed their determined efforts in the final tussle. Sri Lanka Navy female players won the finals pushing Sri Lanka Army players to be the runner-up in the finals.
Meanwhile, Defence Services Weightlifting Championship 2018 got underway at the University of Kelaniya gymnasium on Wednesday (12). Sri Lanka Army male Weightlifting Team emerged all-round champions and the Sri Lanka Army female Weightlifting Team became the Runners-up during the championship tournament.
Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force Weightlifting Male/Female teams competed in the Defence Services Championship.
