Army Exhibition Site Welcomes Commander-in-Chief's Visit

HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the First Lady Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa currently in Ampara in connection with the ‘Deyata Kirula-2013’ National Development Exhibition, attaching a symbolic importance and preference to the tri-service stalls, viewed the Army exhibits with keen interest and enthusiasm on Sunday (24), the second day after the ceremonial opening.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army welcoming the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Rajapaksa to the exhibition site explained the Head of State how Army exhibits have been laid on the site, making all of them more attractive for display with less inconvenience to the public. All Regiments have put up their own stalls.

President Rajapaksa while viewing the Army exhibits added his sentimental value to the plight of disable War Heroes after contributing towards the “Abimansala” charity donation till and placing a floral wreath to the memory of fallen past War Heros whose photos were on display.

Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa, earlier on the day arrived at the Army site, to be received by the Commander of the Army.

Sri Lanka Army, as in previous years, has contributed to the event by erecting more than two dozens of spacious stalls in the compound, considering the mega popularity it would draw in parallel to other sites as evidenced before.

Covering an extent of about 140 acres, the Exhibition will continue until March 29, with its more than 600 stalls, put up by tri-services, state sector agencies, departments, corporations and several semi-government sector organizations.

Sri Lanka Army’s contribution to the event every year adds a thrilling and educative experience as Army exhibitors take extraordinary efforts to explain the visitors about new military hardware and technologies, in some cases, showcasing their physical presentations.
