‘Sarasavi Mithuru’ (friends of university) organization of the University of Colombo with the support of the 591 Brigade of the 59 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), went to Mullaittivu, Mulliyaweli Vidyananda Maha Vidyalaya to help GCE O/L candidates by conducting a two-day seminar that covers most important subjects.
More than 400 students attended these sessions during both days (Nov 16 - 17) after coordination was provided by Mullaittivu Education Department, headed by Mr M. Raj Kumar, Mullaittivu Zonal Director.
Troops serving 591 Brigade provided refreshments and lunch to all attendees during both days considering economic constraints of those students in the area.
The arrangement supported by Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT received appreciation and commendation from education authorities, members of school teachers, parents and students.
Zonal Education Director, Mr M. Raj Kumar, 59 Division General Officer Commanding, Brigadier S.A.K.G.N.B Ehelamalpe, Brigade Commanders of 591 and 593 Brigades, were associated during the inauguration of the first day of the seminar.
