SRI LANKA ARMY taking a leading role in the supply of immediate relief to worst-affected flood victims in areas including Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts participated in distribution of lunch packets among affected families in Katunayake area and Ja-ela Divisional Secretariat area on Sunday (23).
For the last four days, soldiers attached to Welisara and Katunayake Army camps have been actively engaged in the provision of relief for flood victims in different ways, such as through distribution of some 35,000 food packets, clearing of water ways, etc in those areas. The troops had to use even canoes, boats etc in distribution of those lunch packets.
