Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, graced the reception dinner hosted aboard the Pakistan Navy Ship SAIF, currently berthed at the port of Colombo, on 31 January 2024. The invitation was extended by Mr. Wajid Hassan Hashmi, the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan and Captain Muhammad Ali, Commanding Officer of the SAIF.
The Acting High Commissioner and the Commanding Officer warmly welcomed the Commander of the Army to the berthed ship. The occasion provided an opportunity for a cordial interaction between the Commander of the Army and other distinguished invitees present.
Among the notable figures in attendance were the Speaker of the Parliament, Hon Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Services, Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, State Minister of Defence, Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Chief of Defense Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perea RSP USP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, and a number of distinguished invitees.
