General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army during a visit to the Eastern Province made an unannounced visit to the 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) camp (D Squadron) near the Kinniya roadblock this morning (25).
The Army Chief during the brief visit had a close look at the cooking area, accommodation, sanitary requirements and other facilities of All Ranks of the camp and discussed needs of the formation and other concerns.
The Army Chief also inquired into welfare aspects of the soldiers and spoke to a couple of soldiers in the camp. The Officer Commanding of the camp briefed the Army Chief on matters of concern during the visit.
Major General Lal Chandrasiri, Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sanath Aluwihare, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Major General Lal Wijethunge, Overall Security Coordinator and Colonel Ravindra Jayasinghe, Commander, 223 Brigade were associated with the visit.
