Sri Lanka Army Boxers during the National Boxing Championship Tournament – 2011, held for four days (Jan 11, 12, 13 & 14) at Colombo Sugathadasa Stadium secured the first runners-up slot after winning four Championships out of ten (heavy) categories.
The tournament, competed by Army woman boxers secured two Championships in weight categories and four runners-up slots. They emerged the runners-up in the whole tournament.
The Army team won 4 Gold medals, Army ‘A’ (3) and Army ‘B’ (1), 1 Silver medal and 2 Bronze medals while the Army’s women’s team won 2 Gold medals and 4 Silver medals.
However, considering its achievements, the Army Boxing Club was awarded the Muththaiah Zavior Challenge Cup during the closing session of the tournament held on 14th January.
