Army Assists People in Mannar to Celebrate Thai Pongal

SRI SITHTHIVINAYAGAR Hindu Temple in Wattakandal village that comes under 215 Brigade Headquarters in Mannar was renovated by Army troops. The troops participated in the repair work of Hindu Temple for ten days under the guidance of Brigade Commander 215 Brigade Colonel H.L.V.M Liyanage, under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel N. Mahavithana, the Civil Coordinating Officer of 215 Brigade. 

It enabled the people to conduct Thai Pongal celebrations on a grand scale on 14th January at this Hindu Temple. The celebrations were sponsored by the Sarvodaya in Mannar. The Brigade Commander 215 Brigade, it’s Civil Coordinating Officer, District Coordinating Officer of Sarvodaya in Mannar and its staff members, officers and other ranks from 215 Brigade and a large number of devotees attended for the celebrations and religious observances.
