To coincide with the 17 anniversary of the 22 Division Headquarters, troops on the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E), organized multi-religious observances at its Headquarters in Trincomalee.
Troops invited more than 38 monks from the area and offered alms to them, following special blessing-invoking ceremonies.
A separate ‘Ifthar’ (fast–breaking) event meanwhile, took place on Saturday (19) together with several Moulavis and Muslim officers and other ranks at the 22 Division as one more segment of the anniversary programmes.
Members of the Muslim community in the area too joined the ritual at the invitation of the troops.
Brigadier A.M.R Dharmasiri, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, took the initiative in this connection as a measure to further improve existing relations with the Muslims.
